The original idea for GroovyChocolate came from Jeremy Salvesen, an executive with over 10 years experience in the chocolate industry who had watched as children of all ages left sweet shops delighted because their names had been written on Easter eggs and other chocolate gifts. The technique, which essentially involves squeezing icing sugar out of a cloth bag, has been around for as long as there have been cakes and confectionary.
Salvesen thought that there had to be a way of updating the process by printing on the chocolate using edible food dyes instead of ink.
